Richardson Endorses Obama

Todays article was about Governer Bill Richardson of New Mexico decision to support of Senator Barack Obama for president, he urged Democrats to unite behind his candidacy “to move the nation beyond its racialand partisan divide”. Mr.Richardson said “It is now time for a new generation of leadership to lead America forward,” Mr. Richardson said, speaking to thousands of supporters at a rally here. “Barack Obama will be a historic and a great president, who can bring us the change we so desperately need by bringing us together as a nation here at home and with our allies abroad.”

Mr. Richardson also felt disappointed by the direction of the race due to all the negativity thats bee going on as a result of  the Clinton campaign. Governer Richardson feels that Barack Obama campaign is postive.  Mr. Richardson also spoke about how inspired he was by Senator Barack Obama addressing the race topic in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

My opinions on this article:  I agree with Governer Richardson the race was heading in a negative direction,and right now America does not need any negativity.  I think the race should be focused on how to make America a better place as oppose to the canidates trying to make each other look bad.

Thousands may be infected by Vegas clinic

Todays article was about nearly 40,000 patients of a Las Vegas clinic  discoverd that they may have received a sickness due to their doctor’s negligence.  The Las Vegas clinic was found to be reusing syringes and vials of medications for nearly four years. Such careless practices may have led to an outbreak of the potentially fatal hepatitis C virus and exposed patients to HIV, too.

The discovery led to the biggest public health notification operation in U.S. history, brought demands for investigations and caused scores of lawyers to seek out patients at risk for infections.

Thousands of patients are being urged to be tested for the viruses. Six acute cases of hepatitis C have been confirmed. The surgical center and five affiliated clinics have been closed.

My reaction to this article is I am disgusted by the irresponsible practices by these doctors, how unsanitary.  I think that this is an unfortunate event that took place and I feel bad for all the people that has been infected to due to the carelessness of the doctors. The clinic has the audacity to recycle the needles,syringes,etc… when these products are inexpensive.  This was a dirty scam and they deserve evry punishment coming for them.

Stocks Tumble Amid Credit Concerns

Todays article is about the how the  increase in home foreclosures are creating concerns in the market.  Many markets are worried about a “sagging economy”.  Failure for many companies to meet margain calls requirements along with lenders hesitant to extend credit, is contributing to the credit concerns and bad market. Many business are suffering from this unfortunate event, such as The Dow Jones industrials,   Thornburg Mortgage Inc, Carlyle Group bond fund,  JPMorgan,  J.C. Penney Co.,   Limited Brands Inc., Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works chains.

Many compaines and or financial stocks are suffering due to the fact that consumers feel that spendig their money on certain things are not essential. “J.C. Penney fell $5.34, or 11.10 percent, to $42.77, while Limited declined 54 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $14.82, Homeowners’ percentage of equity fell to 47.9 percent in the fourth quarter,JPMorgan equities analyst Thomas J. Lee. The Dow managed a moderate gain after a volatile session Wednesday, and had fallen in the four previous sessions, and The Dow fell 214.60, or 1.75 percent, to 12,040.39 — almost slipping below the 12,000 level, which it briefly did in January for the first time since November 2006″.

 My opinion on this unfortunate event is that we should conserve as much as possible and only spend whats neccesary. I also suggest that the banks should discontinue loans to people who can not afford to pay them back.

Today in news the makers of the popular herbal cold remedy are receving a lawsuit due to false advertising.  They will now have to refund customers $2.3 million.”There’s no credible evidence that what’s in Airborne can prevent colds or protect you from a germy environment,” said CSPI Senior nutritionist David Schardt”.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a non-profit advocacy group, said the company will refund money to consumers who bought Airborne’s product. It will pay for advertisements in major publications instructing consumers on how to get their money refunded.

My opinion on this article is that was deceptive  scheme,and the herbal supplementary company that made this false advetisment deserve the lawsuit brought against them. 

Rising Inflation Creates Unease in Middle East

The article I read today “Rising Inflation Creates Unease in Middle East”, was about areas in the Middle East suffering from the recent oil price boom, which has contributed to the extraordinary rise in the cost of foods and other basic goods.  This unexpected event that is taken place is unfortunate and is resulting in many uprisings(strikes and occasional riots) from the middle classes of Morocco to the Persian Gulf who are now tilitng towards proverty.  Other areas in the Middle East are suffering to such as Jordan “the cost of maintaining fuel subsidies amid the surge in prices forced the government to remove almost all the subsidies this month, sending the price of some fuels up 76 percent overnight. In a devastating domino effect, the cost of basic foods like eggs, potatoes and cucumbers doubled or more”. Another country that is being negatively affected by the inflation is Saudi Arabia where inflation had been virtually zero for a decade, it recently reached an official level of 6.5 percent, though unofficial estimates put it much higher. Public protests and boycotts have followed, and 19 prominent clerics posted an unusual statement on the Internet in December warning of a crisis that would cause “theft, cheating, armed robbery and resentment between rich and poor.” “The inflation has many causes, from rising global demand for commodities to the monetary constraints of currencies pegged to the weakening American dollar. But one cause is the skyrocketing price of oil itself, which has quadrupled since 2002. It is helping push many ordinary people toward poverty even as it stimulates a new surge of economic growth in the gulf”.

My reaction towards this article:
I think that the inflation thats taken place in the Middle East and America is unfortunate.  Its sad to hear how everybody suffering and how they are basically going from riches to rags, it sad to see all their friuts of labor go to waste. I think everybody should sacrifice and only spend if neccessary until the economy is back to the way it use to be. I also think that inorder for the economy to do better and save oil people should carpool,take public transportation,and what ever they think would help save gas. I also think that we should use other forms of gases than just one kind to fuel our automobiles therefore there will be a surplus of gas.
